That makes no sense to me. Each strategy or combined strategy is different. If you buy stock and sell calls you get a commission to lower your cost basis but your stock can get called away. If you sell puts you get a commission to lower your cost basis but you can end up with stock. In that case if the stock goes up you keep your commission, in the buy stock/sell calls case if the stock goes up you lose your stock. In selling puts if the stock goes down you end up with stock but your commission goes to help pay for it. In buying stock/selling calls if the stock goes down you were smart because you keep your stock and your commission. How are they functionally the same?
