I would make this OT except I bet it will educate many on this thread if I can understand what you two are saying. Profit/loss curves...how does that help me make a decision? To me, the most important point is that the strategies are based on completely different expectations for the stock, and different eventual goals. In any options play don't you need to know first what you really want (do youwant to lock in a certain amount of monthly profit, do you want to accumulate stock, do you just want to scalp rich premiums), second your best guess on where the stock is headed, and that determines everything: how near or far out your option, the strike price, etc. I agree w/ Ibexx that right now selling calls on QCOM is not smart! Even selling puts is not as smart, it seems, as buying calls. That could change in a few days. If Greg was right in calling a short-term top. But VoltageMan thinks we have a good ways to go.

That part is pure art or gut feel or just luck.
