Yes, sand wedge, that turnover rate is healthy. I believe the 5% rate is about accurate for the sales side of the house, including sales management, just judging from my contacts there. Of course, I have no idea what the turnover rate may be in the R&D, non-sales admin side is. I doubt that it is 5%, though.

CSCO is very picky when hiring on the sales side. (I tried to get on a few times and didn't.) I have always been an OK tech sales rep, with a few great years. I know others a cut or two above me in performance who couldn't make the grade either. I know several who I consider to be the most consistently good performers who did get on and have been there for a few years now. They work very hard, and they make good money. They tend to be folks who had already established themselves in particular market niches and were able to bring those niches to CSCO.

My point is that the 5%/year turnover in sales may be accurate, as their hiring practices are very stringent, but I am only saying that from anecdotal evidence.
