Sig re: This has been the most predictable of any Dell earnings reports.

Amazing that Dell made a predictable quarter out of so many unexpected or large troubles (820 chipset surprise, Taiwan earthquake, continued LCD shortage, Y2K lockdowns, and what ever else I forgot). Chuzzlewit uses a stock's beta for risk, but I think that management's ability to make predictable financial performance in the face of large troubles to be more meaningful. How many stocks can make predictable (and therefore low risk) +40% growth? Hence Dell deserves a sizable premium.

re: Only one thing to say about that-its not going to happen that way (for one thing, brokers and MM's want their fees from volatility)

I suspect that a shift of investor money from stock purchase to options has also depressed the stock price of Dell, as a lower capital intensive investment has attracted many Dell stock buyers. The MM's really make out with these instruments. That is why they have been touting them on the boards. I am not much on conspiracy theories, but this is as good as any!

Cheers
Mike
