Mr.Steve, I think most people who get on the internet frequently are frustrated by the slow speed. My opinion is it is the one thing holding back widespread acceptance by people curious about the internet but unimpressed by it. The question is how much would a low cost ADSL modem alleviate the apathy that the general public has for the internet. If you feel that an ADSL modem set up in every Circuit City store accross the country demonstrating Web TV as it should be, would make a big dent in the apathy then you would believe as I do that these estimates are way understated. Considering Japan alone would offer a huge market for Amati modems leading well into the future with VDSL modems (there are many other countries in the world as well that will be ordering), three million modems in 2000 sounds like a gross underestimate for a world market.
