pat,
that dell with the new 430vx(i think that is its #)chipset really does not do that much performance wise with the sdram. there is a 1% performance increase over edo using sdram as main memory. sdram , as workstation users and manufacturers will tell you, is very good with graphics and hence is used as display memory where the performance gains are substantial over traditional memories.

MU is in production on 8Mb, and plans to move all of that to 16Mb by aug i think . as has been stated previously here, 16Mb is now 50% of start, so i would assume that sdram is a part of that.

also, intel and OEMs are pushing jedec compliant sdram, which MU makes. the asians are making a version called sdram - lite that is not fully jedec compliant.

MU has positioned itself well for now. all we need is some good follow through.

i have heard a rumor that cost of production of 4Mb is about 2.75. can anyone confirm?

thanks and good luck to all,
trey
