Lu Xun is considered the spiritual leader of modern China, post 1911 - .

If you talk to any literate person in or from China about, you will get the feel of the immensity of LX's presence.

PS: Lu Xun was educated as a physician, like William Carlos Williams, but he wrote prolifically in a wide spectrum of literary genre: fiction, poetry, assays, criticism and drama. Similar to Neruda, Lu Xu was also a revolutionary and social reformer.
