I was talking to mark last night and I started to tell him about the story of Jesus and Peter paying tribute..
I was overcome by the experience and wept for Marks soul !
Today I was again in that place and I would like to share it if you can feel it yourself.

Just imagine that you are Peter and you have had this Jesus fellow call you and tell you to follow Him..
You say to yourself, why not this looks interesting..
You leave you wife and begin to follow this miracle man around the country and slowly you begin to love Him.
Your getting pretty frustrated with His act however because He keeps talking to these huge crowds in riddles and sending them away ! How will this movement ever amount to anything ! Why doesn't He just speak plainly to them... Oh well you continue on...because you know you KNOW by the grace you know you MUST FOLLOW.
Then one day...
Mt 17:24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
Your under pressure you dare not say no or there could be untold trouble so you answer for Him and say YES !
OH oh maybe Jesus will be angry again .. You got to tell Him what you did. You don't get the chance when He says..
25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
This Jesus always seems to know what going on without being told ???
Matthew 17:26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.
27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
Now here is a commandment You don't mind following one little bit... GO FISHING !
It's a beautiful day and so you get a little row boat and a line and off you go... but this is even more fun because He has told you to look in the fishes mouth and get a coin.. How insane is that !
You get a bit and look inside and there it is... there it is.
A gold coin in the very first FISH !
What does an experience like that do to you ?
How do you feel looking up into the beautiful blue sky knowing that all things are under the power of His hand.
How then also do you feel ... dropping that gold coin letting it go into the tribute box for the enemies of our LORD ?
