Monicas

Recently I was in a social situation when a blonde woman of
45 or so approached me and said, "I don't think I've met you.
I'm Jennifer Flowers." So I had a split second to make a
decision ... "Do I pretend not to notice the connection to
Clinton's Gennifer or how else can I handle it?" I elected
the pokerface option and introduced myself and said nice to
meet you. Of course with all the experience she's had with
her name situation, I'm sure there was no fooling her.

Later I told one of Jennifer's friends about my encounter
and she laughed said, "I embarrassed myself to death when
I met Jennifer. I said 'That name is SO familiar'."

Turns out that Jennifer, like the Monicas and blondes, uses
humor to deal with the situation. The only realistic way to
erase the unfortunate connection, I would think.
