"Perhaps this is a statistic [AOL] wouldn't like matched against NetZero's 9,000 daily number attained via word of mouth."
Actually, NZRO was advertising in the Chicago area during the two month period prior to the IPO.
I would also suggest that it is more useful to look at the number of subscribers that have actually used NZRO during the past month as opposed to the number of subscribers that have registered for the service. During the September quarter, NZRO added 810,000 registered users but the number of users that actually utilized the service during the month of September only increased by 407,000 from the number of users that utilized the service during the month of June.
While you could argue that NZRO added 8,804 (810,000 divided by 92 days) registered subscribers per day during the September quarter, it is probably more useful to point out that they added 4,424 (407,000 divided by 92 days) users per day during the September quarter.
As noted in my prior post, AOL, including CompuServe, added 10,870 domestic subscribers per day during the same period. |
