Blue, a lot of those perks by the drug companies have been cut a lot, probably due to the IRS. I'm not making light of the fact that these things did take place. I am sure there are those who prescribed accordingly. But you cannot make blanket statements like that about every physician. My husband would prescribe the generic brand, in order to save money (pre HMO days too), would get to the operating room by 7, come home at 9 that night, dog tired. For MONEY???? HA! Plumbers, lawyers, insurance executives make far more money. Why do they do it? Because they love it. Some, like my husband, truly want to help their patients, who call all the time, asking questions which they are happy to answer. Sure, some are in it for the money. But most go through horrendous years of study and internship because they care. |
