Joe please, you are out of line not me. Just how long have YOU worked in medicine? You sound like you know what you are talking about. I've got thirty years in it and in the corporate end of it. And you?

I've got enough time (and FIRST-HAND involvement) in it to know that those in the "corporate end of it" ie. THE HMO's are the true winners in this game. I've got enough time to know that my wife spends twice as much time on paperwork than seeing the patient. I've got enough experience to know that battling with the HMO daily requires a full-time office assistant. I've got enough time to know that about 20 percent of all patients will be "no shows"...thus wasting the doctors time. And I've got enough time in it to know that things are constantly changing...and especially within the last FEW years. Indeed, I've got enough experience to know that we've been working on a $150,000 student loan. I've also got enough time in this to know that I wouldn't be discounting what myself or Carolyn might have to say out-of-hand just because you have some grudge.

Does your Wife and her friends work for free or for money? Any of them full time pro bono in the Peace Corps or something? Any of them leave the practice, jump on a plane and go to Turkey rather that make a few bucks on Monday?

Yes...my wife has worked for free for those that cannot afford to pay, or don't have insurance. In addition my wife has provided serviced that were "pre-approved" by the almighty HMO...only to be told later that her services are "not covered". No, this doesn't just happen once in a while...IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. And in addition, BLUE, my wife has put in THOUSANDS of free hours at the Veteran's Administration to treat those that you and I have a deep caring for....YES FREE! And guess what...since you asked, I'll tell you that yes, my wife is a member of the American Red Cross and has been dispatched to different places (in California) to provide services for those that have suffered in fires, floods, and other natural disasters...for FREE.

Are there any, flashlights, memo pads, pens, coffee cups, or anything else in your house that your Wife was given for free.I know you are saying they are just little things. Has she ever had a free lunch on a corporation? How about you, that is a corporate tactic to take the spouse to dinner, make them part of the family.
Has your Wife or you ever been to Hawaii or Vegas on a company's dime? You will let us know about any free-bees that might cloud your judgement won't you?

LOL! Yeah, right. I can't believe you would resort to this superfluous crap BLUE. I don't have one thing in my house that wasn't paid for except maybe a memo pad or two...perhaps a ball-point pen. Neither I, nor my wife, has ever flown anywhere for free by any company (except Intel, who flew me from Hawaii to Oregon for a job interview). Really, I'm surprised you can even make these statements. Did your company ever fly you anywhere?
Nothing is clouding my judgement...I see it clearly, as clearly as someone would who is directly involved.

-Joe
