VARL does have some "very" important opteoelectric components that they sell to JDSU and LU that would be attractive to someone. These patents alone are probably worth the existing market cap of the company. This is one* of many and varied reasons to own VARL. The fact that Oak is going for a 50% premium is very comforting to me. :-) *For those of you not familiar with VARL's opteoelectric components, they basically allow the last mile to be completed by broadband wireless after converting from an optical signal (yes, it works both ways). Their patents in this area were beefed up last year and it looks like they are the leaders.
