Did you see "Howard's End"? I happen to admire the novel, but I didn't much like the movie. However, there was a wonderful performance by Vanessa Redgrave, especially in the scene where she visits Helen Schlegel (Emma Thompson). It is delicate, profound, and perfect. Similarly, Patricia Neal gave the performance of her life in "Cookies Fortune", the distillation of a lifetime of acting, and of a life lived. It so happens that the rest of the movie was worthy of the her.....
