How many of the billion and a half, who speak dialects of supposed Chinese as different as the languages of Europe, German to Dutch to Swedish to Danish, etc., are literate, or better than semi- literate, and how many of them would find the "everday language" of Lu Xan their everday language? And how large is the impact, beyond language, on anyone? I don't know, but without being in a position to evaluate, I am not immediately inclined to include the fellow.....
