My take on this is that the entry of barrier to the X86 capable CPU market has gone up many times higher from the time Transmeta was started. When Transmeta was started, IDT and Cyrix were still viable. It's not going to have any effect on Intel or AMD in the very near future( next 18 months) because of the time it takes to bring a CPU with a new architecure/concept into market. Just my 2 Cents.
