Thanks for your comment that rambus has never been considered for the initial chipset support for Itanium (which leaves open the possibility of other types of DRAM support in later chipsets). Given the degree to which Intel has otherwise been supportive of rambus isn't that a bit surprising?

We've been over this one at least 3 times, once with KZ when I know you were on-line here. The basic story is that Merced was due out a year before RDRAM was due out so of course no RDRAM support was included. When the Merced schedule began slipping, as Tench has pointed out before, do you really think they were going to start adding new features? Of course not.
