This is the enabling technology.

The ability to do lift-off & transfer is really the enabling technology for the transmissive microdisplay. That's why I think it's worth investigating. The other steps involved in the manufacturing process are relatively standard engineering. The holographic Light Shaping Diffuser from Physical Optics Corp. is a nice piece of work, but that is purchased from an outside supplier; it's not exclusive to Kopin.

The question of whether or not any MIT technology is used in the CyberDisplay is the question of how the lift-off & transfer steps are being done. Are they using a technique derived from the MIT patents, such as CLEFT, or are they doing something similar to Smart Cut? Epitaxy or Implantation? Or something completely different?
