There are various facets to security, and no single company has anything but a small piece of the action. For example, in wireless access, the use of QUALCOMM's CDMA cellular system virtually ensures there will be no monitoring of transactions. Another company, called HIFN, has hardware that preserves the security of credit card numbers. MSFT also has done some work in this area, but the stuff done by HIFN is supposed to be better. And SanDisk has built in copyright protection into its MP3 flash memory cards for downloading music from the Internet. The SNDK secure digital initiative assures that people who download music to their MP3 music players cannot distribute any copies.
