james, heres a little teaser.

what's the first thing a newly public, or a newly flush ( venture funding) Internut company does when they get the proceeds?

a: they go buy a server and a router. or they go to exedous or intel or an asp and contract for space. m dell said in the recent conference call that many of his inut customers have "more servers than employees>"

when your cousin starts a business in his home office, he goes out and buys STUFF ( computer, printer), ahead of getting the customers.

what has been going on? any guy with a cute domain name is getting funded and or going public. he takes the money, calls sun.com or exodous and says gimmie some stuff. then he goes out and trys to get people to hit his servers,

of course, it is obvious to me that there is no way that all these servers are going to be utilized in the near term. They're all adding capacity because their consultant said people would hit their site.

I beleive a "glut" of Internet based hardware is being created by Venture capital and Wall Street. Eventually the market will have to absorb this glut. that's why sun.com is sailing through y2k. Wall Street and venture capital.

Anybody wanna by a used sun.com server?

PS: what does the W stand for in sunw.com?

answer? workstation. and they don't even TALK about workstations anymore. there may be a day when they don't talk about servers. <g>
