Time to market is critical, and VoIP without a non-typical niche was almost impossible. Since FCM was making the noise of product, the time lapse generated did not send a strong enough message to the VCs. They have tons....$$$$$$$$$$ of money at this time. Last quarter had them spending over 3.7 billion in new ventures. Up from 3.3 last qtr. Its the smell of the hamburger that excites, not the look. Without a new niche / business model, FNet going nowhere. The same for FCM, without a caboose to watch, or in this case sell wthin a niche market (national chain of servers), things will start to degenerate. Unfortunately, FCM wound up being about 2 years behind everyone else. But you couldn't see it coming in 96. It swooped in, caught a few up, and left the others in the dust. DSP cards have been out there for quite some time for the home. Now getting them into the home is the next logical step. Guess how?
In-home service's...........I wonder why I saw a Flashnet vehicle in the neighborhood? Must be adding additional value while he's in-house <smiling>

That is the next logical step for providers, and that is to bundle service, security, fun technology, all rolled into a package that is profitable. If the guy that cleans 3 rooms of carpet for $29.95 can make a profit, how much better can the ISP / ASP that provides in-house services that are bundled through partnerships.
It doesn't take a Einstein to figure out which way the market is headed, just look at the top 25 corporations spending the most with online advertisement, i.e. banners / icons, etc........next year since they have only captured 5% revenue from their advertising dollars, there going elsewhere.
I wonder where that might be? Maybe the source? Ha!!!

I'f I had as much money as logic, I'd be rich by now!!! |
