Digital Rights Management Company Receives Twelfth US Patent
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- InterTrust Technologies Corporation, (Nasdaq: ITRU - news) announced today that it has received U.S. Patent No. 5,982,891, entitled Systems and Methods for Secure Transaction Management and Electronic Rights Protection. The '891 patent, includes 100 claims, and is the eighth InterTrust patent to issue this year. The patent provides recognition of InterTrust's ongoing efforts in the field of digital rights management and secure computing. InterTrust now has 12 US patents and over 30 pending US patent applications.
The Company believes Patent No. 5,982,891 covers a broad range of methods and processes for managing digital rights and information, including subject matters relating to: securely coupling rules to digital information for distributed information management; securely managing and controlling the use of content according to policies specified by plural parties; securely combining content with multiple sets of rules; and resolving conflicts between rules and policies for the use of content.
