The San Francisco Chronicle article explains very nicely why VLNC price went up and went down down in the early 90's.

The story is an old one (isn't the reason why VLNC switched to a "goo" based battery instead of a solid lithium battery because of the hazardous nature of the solid battery design?). The article even states dates back in 1993. It doesn't reflect what is going on now or what will occur, just what has happened.

I assume all here knew of this company's past before they plunked their money down? I mean, this is why the company WAS such a risky play, right?

I like to see articles like this. It reminds me what risk entails. And how "unfair" the market is when you don't know what is going on in the company...one more reason to use only SEC documents (though that in itself carries the risk of being too scared by the disclaimers to do anything but run for the safety of a savings passbook or mattress).

I don't see any short collusion here.

I see a warning of risk against taking out loans to buy into a R&D/start-up firm.
