InterTrust and Sony Complete Agreement Concerning Secure Electronic Music Distribution
InterTrust Digital Rights Management and Sony OpenMG to be Interoperable
LAS VEGAS, COMDEX, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- InterTrust Technologies Corporation, the MetaTrust Utility(TM) (Nasdaq: ITRU - news), today announced that it has reached an agreement with Sony Corporation to make InterTrust's digital rights management (DRM) platform technology interoperable with Sony's ``OpenMG' technology.
InterTrust and Sony are working together to enable OpenMG compliant personal computers and Sony's portable devices such as the ``Memory Stick Walkman (NW-MS7)' and ``VAIO Music Clip (MC-P10)' to receive and securely manage content downloaded over the Internet. It may also enable MetaTrust Utility partners, especially those with a focus on electronic music distribution, to create applications that interoperate with Sony's state-of-the-art products, as well as a variety of portable devices from a variety of venders.

Sony's OpenMG technology supports DRM and consists of three key functions: allowing music download through multiple electronic music distribution platforms, enabling to playback music files and CD ripping on PCs (OpenMG Jukebox), and transferring content securely from PCs to portable devices.
