Bulldozer --

I agree on all counts.

SDL's sales to Corning were below 10% in Q3, and their contract goes to December 2000. What happens beyond that depends on advances in each company's technology. Fortunately, SDL's fastest growing segments --- submarine chips and modulators --- don't involve Corning. In addition, neither Oak Industries nor Corning has RAMAN technology, a market that's just beginning and expected to ramp substantially by 2001.

All in all, the competition is heating up and it's good to keep track of SDL's and JDSU's positioning in each market. Only the paranoid survive --- just as true of investors as corporations.
