Schultz to Lead Microsoft/QUALCOMM Wireless Data Venture BUSINESS WIRE - November 15, 1999 19:14 SAN DIEGO, Nov 15, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Wireless Knowledge LLC, a joint venture company of Microsoft Corp. and QUALCOMM, today announced that Eric V. Schultz has been appointed Chairman and CEO of Wireless Knowledge LLC effective immediately.
Schultz replaces John Major who has left Wireless Knowledge to pursue personal interests.

"Eric's broad experience at the helm of a successful technology company from start-up to maturity, and recent experience leading wireless data initiatives at Microsoft make him an outstanding choice to head the company."

Most recently, Schultz was director, wireless strategy and sales at Microsoft with overall responsibility for defining the company's sales strategy for data services platforms, Internet properties and client handsets to wireless carriers and infrastructure vendors. He built a sales team and created a successful strategy to serve carrier customers. Previously while at Microsoft, Schultz was a group program manager in the Exchange Server product group, planning the development of wireless and unified messaging platform products.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Schultz was chairman and CEO of the Mesa Group, Inc., an innovative product and service company which he co-founded in 1989 and led through several generations of growth leading to successful acquisition in 1998.
