Intel will cuts prices when they have a faster processor or when Athlon volumes start to get into the 2-3 million / quarter. At the current 1 million Athlons / quarter, cutting prices hurts Intel more than AMD. Willamette will be the time when Intel cuts margins on PIII to try to kill off Athlon while still generating revenue from a higher end chip. From AMD's point of view, releasing their next generation AThlon before Willamette will be critical.
