Frank, Bernard, Peter, wireless, dave, and others -
Finished wading through the acronymic swamp of wireless at 4:30 this morning. At 6:30, phoned my broker, and we left some Wi-LAN on the loading dock.
The debate, ostensibly about VOFDM vs WOFDM and IPRs was, of course, about money.
The risk/reward ratio was all wrong. The informed comments of the posters on this thread convinced me of that.
Because many monitor this thread, I want to be clear that this is no reflection on Wi-LAN, an excellent company, or its prospects - I still hold a pile of it, and believe it will easily do a double, maybe a triple.
But the picture that emerges is a future, 2 years from now, with as-yet unknown breakthroughs assailing the market, and the different flavors of OFDM at various frequencies and locales within that market. It seems unlikely that there will be one, and only one, preferred modulation standard for all things wireless.
The battle will continue, but I'll watch it from a less exposed viewpoint.
I ask dave and Bernard, in particular, to send, with my crow, a little vinaigrette dressing - it make the feathers easier to swallow, y'know?
Best wishes,
Jim |
