"The announcement dealt with Lucent exiting the SC sector and handing that over to AMSC in return for a royalty stream. Somewhere that far back along this thread there will be a reference to this. When I have sometime I might dig it out for you."

From what you've described sounds like Lucent licensed its patents to AMSC. Curious as to the terms, and as to whether it was future patents or those already issued. I look forward to reviewing the press release when you have the time.
