Excerpt from WSJ; China>

Meanwhile, Mr. Zhu disappeared from view in the state-controlled media.
He had tied his fate to the WTO deal, taking unusual steps to promote it.
Earlier in the year, for instance, he had pushed through acceptance of a U.S.
mobile-phone technology, called CDMA, which promised huge revenues for
companies such as Motorola Inc. and Qualcomm Inc. On a document he
approved in February discussing telecom reform, the premier scribbled
instructions that CDMA should be "given to the U.S. side" to sweeten the
pot and help win a WTO deal.
