Corel® LINUX® OS Lands On The Desktop Today
...International Data Corporation (IDC) has projected that the entire Linux operating environment market (client and server) will grow at over 25% Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) through 2003. IDC's Linux forecast notes that all other Client Operating Environments (COE) combined are projected to grow at 10% CAGR during the same forecast period. (Linux Operating Overview, IDC # 18662, March 1999.)

The momentum for Linux has been building in the last few years, and we fully expected some vendor to take up the challenge of Linux as a complete desktop solution. The time is now and that vendor is Corel, said Dan Kusnetzky, IDC program director, operating environments and serverware. IDC believes that Corel LINUX OS will be an attractive option for IT organizations supporting task oriented workers or knowledge workers. IDC recognizes this effort by Corel as a first step in a multi-step process leading to a viable general purpose Linux desktop market....
