Redback Networks Names William Kurtz,
Chief Financial Officer of Scient, to its
Board of Directors

SUNNYVALE, Calif. --(BUSINESS WIRE)--November 16,
1999--Redback Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:RBAK) today named
William Kurtz, chief financial officer of Scient Corporation
(Nasdaq:SCNT) to its board of directors.

Kurtz, a 15 year veteran of AT&T, served as vice president of cost
management, where he was responsible for the company's 16
billion worldwide procurement program, 3 billion credit and
collections operations and cost reduction strategy and
implementation. In 1996, Kurtz became one of the youngest
executives in the company's history to be promoted to corporate
officer.
