Goutama,

<Wow..., you can read lot of things into the comments like -

o confluence of factors
o we're scrambling
o Intel always faces "exciting issues" when it switches to a new manufacturing process
o We need more maturity ...
o having technical difficulties producing the chips ...
o as well as disruptions caused by the recent earthquakes in Taiwan

I'm not familiar with this type of business talk - can you guys translate above comments for me, please ;o) >

It is interesting that your post followed the PriceWatch update from DARBES. In any case. I still feel comfortable that Intel will do about 3Mu CuMines this quarter. I have said this before but let's put things in perspective:

Based on the way the industry is moving to lower ASP systems, I think that that demand for the top 3 speed bins will constitute to 20-30% of the market for the quarter. This puts the quarter requirements at 6-9Mu. 3Mu CuMines and 1Mu Athlons leave 2-5 Mu of unsatisfied demand at the high end. AMD could have had a humongous opportunity for this quarter had they nailed down the infrastructure issues a while back. That's a pretty big lost opportunity.

In any case, this development is VERY positive to AMD because at least some OEMs will see Intel as an unreliable supplier and hedge their bets by giving some business to AMD.

Continuing to looking forward to a golden year.

Cheers,
Chuck
