Bombardier Cl B SV BBD.B
Shares issued 507,318,590 Nov 15 close $26.75
Tue 16 Nov 99 News Release
Mr. John Lawson reports
Bombardier Aerospace today signed a firm sales contract for a total of 12
Learjet 45, Learjet 60, Continental business jet and Special Edition
aircraft with the ExecuJet Aviation Group.
The total value of the transaction is approximately $145-million (U.S.) It
includes five Learjet 45, two Learjet 60, four Continental and one Special
Edition aircraft. Deliveries will begin in the year 2000.
All of the aircraft in today's announcement are destined for operators in
southern Africa and Scandinavia, two regions where Bombardier is
represented by ExecuJet.
The purchases are the largest to date made by the ExecuJet Aviation Group,
a Swiss-based group active in the management, charter, leasing, sale and
support of Bombardier business aircraft in Africa, the Middle East and
Europe.
The sales were finalized by Bombardier and ExecuJet officials during Dubai
2000, the sixth biennial international aerospace exhibition being held at
the all-new Dubai Airport exhibition centre.
"These sales are further evidence of our growing relationship with
ExecuJet, which has had tremendous success in the aviation market by
offering a comprehension range of services to its customers," said John
Lawson, president, sales, Bombardier Aerospace, business aircraft. "We are
extremely pleased to be able to support its continued expansion by offering
aircraft that provides customized solutions to a wide variety of business
jet users."
Mr. Lawson noted that today's announcement follows ExecuJet's purchase
earlier this year of a mid-size Learjet 60 business jet and an
ultralong-range Bombardier Global Express(R) corporate jet, both destined
for operations in southern Africa.
"This acquisitions reflect the strength of our broad product line and
underlines that we're the only manufacturer offering aircraft ranging from
light jets through to ultralong-range aircraft," observed Mr. Lawson.
ExecuJet, the exclusive sales representative for the entire family of
Bombardier business jet aircraft in several southern African countries, has
also sold a number of Learjet 45 aircraft in South Africa and made
breakthrough sales of Learjet 60 aircraft in Scandinavia.
"Bombardier aircraft are being very well received by customers in all our
sales territories," noted Niall Olver, managing director, ExecuJet Aviation
Group. The three aircraft models being purchased by ExecuJet represent some
of the fastest selling jets in Bombardier's family of business aircraft:
The Learjet 60 is the best-selling mid-size jet in corporate aviation,
offering true transcontinental capabilities and exceptional stand-up cabin
comfort. It can fly from Dubai to London with one stop.
The Learjet 45, which is making its Middle East debut at Dubai 2000, has
captured a 55-per-cent share of deliveries in the superlight business jet
category after less than two years of service. The 50th aircraft is
expected to enter corporate service by year-end.
The Continental represents Bombardier's entry in the fast-growing super
mid-size business jet segment, offering true transcontinental range and
superior long-range cruise speed. First flight is anticipated in mid-2001
with type certification in mid-2002.
Headquarters based at Lanseria Airport near Johannesburg, the ExecuJet
Aviation Group is the exclusive sales representative for the entire family
of Bombardier business jet aircraft in several African countries including
South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and the Indian Ocean islands. In addition,
ExecuJet is a Bombardier-approved recognized service facility, providing
total service and maintenance for Bombardier business jets throughout
Africa.
>From its base in Copenhagen, Denmark, ExecuJet is responsible for the
Bombardier business aircraft sales for the region and also for the
operations of Flexjet Europe, Bombardier's fractional ownership program
launched at the Paris Air Show in June, 1999.
