If anyone gets INTER@ACTIVE Week, can they explain why Go2Net is not listed in the top 500 internet organizations? They say they attempted, with the help of Ernst & Young, MIT, Media Metrix, Nielsen Media Research/NetRatings and Go2Net to "...rank the top 500 companies by the amount of revenue they generate from their web operations". They did glean a list from the above group's various web site traffic studies and got dollar figures from financial reports as well as Advantage Business Research and Online.Associates conducting phone surveys. The list they produced, even though they used Go2Net as a resource, did NOT include Go2Net as one of the top 500. According to my calculations of their revenues for 3Q98 through 2Q99, the revenue of $14.6M would make them around 118th. The only reason I can think of is that they stated in a sidebar to the intro of the article that "Some e-commerce companies are absent because they declined to participate in our survey and to provide numbers on which we could base an estimate."). So, the question really becomes - did INTER@ACTIVE goof and forget G02Net (even though they assisted in the research for the article) or did someone not want them shown in the article? Anybody - anybody?
