Diluted Earnings Per Share Increase to $0.23
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 19, 1999-- #10 EP 11/17 today reported financial results for the second quarter ended July 31, 1999.

Net income for the second fiscal quarter of 1999 rose 34.9% to $2.3 million, versus net income of $1.7 million for the same period a year ago. Diluted earnings per share for the second quarter rose to $0.23 compared to diluted earnings per share of $0.16 for the second quarter of last year. Income from operations increased 42.1% to $5.1 million compared to $3.6 million in the second quarter of 1998. Comparable store sales rose 12.3%, versus a comparable store sales increase of 3.0% for the second fiscal quarter of 1998.

Sales for the ___ ___stores purchased in September 1998 contributed approximately 0.6% of the comparable store sales increase for the second fiscal quarter of 1999. The ___ __stores posted a 17.8% comparable store sales increase during the second quarter. Net sales rose 40.6% to $65.9 million, versus $46.8 million for the second fiscal quarter of 1998.
