Khartoum, Nov. 16 (SUNA)- External Relations Minister Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail received at his office Tuseday the Executive Director and the Deputy Executive Director of the Canadian Talisman Oil Company which is investing in the Sudan in the oil domain.

The meeting discussed the pressures being practiced against the Company by pressure groups hostile to Sudan, seeking imposition of sanctions on the company and halting its investment in the country at the pretext of false allegations.

During the meeting , the Minister refuted the false allegations circulated against the Sudan in this respect.

He pointed out that the state acknowledges existence of abduction cases, but not slavery practices.

Dr. Ismail also acquainted Talisman Company's officials with efforts of the government to combat the adduction phenomenon, in collaboration with the international community and UNICEF.

The Minister further refuted the baseless claims on Sudan's use of the oil revenues to purchase arms and fuel the conflict in the country, calling on those who are suspicious about the credibility of the government in this regard to see the proposed budget of Sudan for the year 2000, which determined the channels of expending the oil revenues.

He stressed that one visit to the oil production areas will be enough to get assured of the size of the social, developmental and health services which were set up there.

Dr. Ismail also affirmed that utilization of the oil revenues for realizing development was proved through the reports of the missions of the International Monteray Fund (IMF), which regularly visit Sudan.
