That has been the most reccomended brokerage to me. Ameritrade was great at first, when I only traded once a week or so. Now that I would like to trade about once a day or maybe more, they suck. They flat out suck. Espescially at the open, and now that the Nasdaq has averaged over well over 1 bil shares a day and the NYSE has been up recently, Ameritrade is slower than calling someone, them calling somewhere else, them calling somewhere else, and them all calling back to you. (I started trading at a bank 4 years ago, before I realized that that was dumb).
I think they should have a class action law suit filed against them on real time quotes. yeah yeah we have this little agreement crap going on, but anytime you click go and it goes there around a minute later, and most of the time it says "security info is unavailable at this time", it is wrong. If I had to pay for these real time quotes, I would demand my money back. What the message should say "we suck and our servers are all 486's, but hey we recently upgraded to 2 meg ram and we're shooting for getting a p-133 by the end of next year"
sorry to rant and rave and drag it out, but I just don't want anyone to ever start an account at Ameritrade. You'll never ever see them say that they'll execute in under 60 seconds, because they be flooded with tech support questions and complaints. they might get it in under a second, but you won't know it for at least two minutes. And that is if you can get to the review orders page. That sometimes isn't even possible.
As we all know, two minutes could me a quite a bit of money in the stock market.
