The only Kozinski I ever read was The Painted Bird--it was on the reading list for freshman year, and I got it from our local library. My father picked it up and started reading it and went ballistic. I thought he was going to refuse to let me go to college. He even stormed down to our little library and demanded that it be taken off the shelves and when the librarian said it was considered good literature, he told her she was either an idiot or a pervert. I remember nothing about the book except a very horrible rape scene that offended my innocent Catholic schoolgirl sensibilities tremendously.

So now--what are you talking about?
