Well, I wonder if there is a word for bum in literary Mandarin. Don't know. Maybe you are right. Don't know....I said that the principal reason for skepticism is the difficulty of learning an appreciable number of characters, and all of the nuances of their juxtaposition. But mostly I am at a loss to make sense of the man's position in the overall scheme of things. We must all live within our limitations...
