The only time that I got out of a ticket was driving from my home in L.A. to Santa Barbara (that use to be my commute). I got pulled over in Camarillo by a real stoic looking cop. He asked me if I knew why he pulled me over. I responded with "Probably for a couple of reasons", he said "and they would be?" I said "speeding and tailgating" He then lectured me on why tailgating was so dangerous (I agree) and then said "here is the deal, have you ever heard of rock, paper, scissors?" I said hesitantly "yeeessss" He said "if I win, you get a ticket, If you win, no ticket" I said "are you serious" he said "yes" Long story short, I picked scissors and he picked paper. I didn't get a ticket.
