Pet Peeve Dept:

The Reliably Fatuous Jim Seymour's street.com take on the most important thing to come out of the current Comdex? Why, it's the legacy-free Windows PC, of course! A PC that's so gosh-darned easy to use because it has a USB plug instead of a Centronics parallel port. You know, where Compaq and Dell are going to get rich copying the iMac right down to the kandy kolors. The second most important thing is the shape of the latest Logitech mouse...it fits your hand like it was designed by the Great Ergonomicist himself. Seymour hasn't gotten to the electronic shoelaces column yet.

But everything that I hear coming out of that show is a little different. Everything I hear coming out of that show is stuff that screams: Hello! PC GAME OVER!!! MICROSOFT GAME OVER!!! THE WORLD IS WAKING UP!!! AND THE FIRST THING IT SEES WHEN IT OPENS ITS EYES IS SUNW!!!

IMHO SUNW is the best bet you can make without actually owning the dice. It will go up and down, but to sell it now, when just about every development every day is shouting at you to hold it and buy more, is, shall we say, an ill-advised move.

Lets hear some more fear-and-trembling talk about W2K and Merced. My copy of the Onion didn't arrive this week.
