Harry,>>>You could be right. But in my experience, I cannot think of another world class company that gets such knee jerk bad treatment from analysts. You never hear of an analyst take on a GE or and MSFT. Do you think if one of GE's competitors had a conference call, the analysts would rush out and downgrade GE? I doubt it.<<<

You are stating precisely my complaint against Intel. This is a serious issue. Especially when Intel is making acquisitions left and right. Stock volatility is costing Intel to pay a much higher price for its acquisitions - when share swapping is involved.

When compared to Lucent or Cisco, Intel is paying more for its acquisitions because of their inability to manage analyst sentiment.

This is for all those who come on board and say who cares what the stock price is, if you are a long term investor. It is precisely the long term investor that is being affected. The McMannis of this world really don't have to give a darn - theoretically they make money because of the volatility.
Regards,

Mary
