What is the right thing to do? I wish I could share your idealism. As far as I'm concerned, the right thing to do in this case is whatever increases shareholder value. Period. That's the first and last thing I would consider. If MSFT is going to hang tough until it goes bankrupt because it happens to be innocent of the charges, then management should be fired. Fortunately, I suspect, BG & Co. are going for shareholder value.
