>>>Also, CKFR has a decent amount of revenue continuously coming in. I bet they use some of that money to meet payroll and not just their cash reserves.
IHMO, the company needs to have enough cash to cover 3 months of expenses(excluding revenue), at a minimum. Reserves are needed for unexpected system outages, legal matters, etc. On a personal level almost all financial planners tell you that you should have at least 3 months of income in case of emergencies, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the same would go for a billion dollar company.
>>>The base wage for these guys in 1995 was $15.5K. So if half of the comapany is making, say $18K in 1999 (allowing for a tighter job market than in 1995), I think that stretches out your six weeks a good deal further.
Not to beat a dead horse, but, Programmers (mainframe, client server, etc.) make from 50K to 150K+ depending (including benefits). Second you must include wage base, health benefit, Disability, FICA, Medicare, Bonus, etc. In addition, I would bet that the average cust rep is making 25K+ if you include all benefits, inflation, etc.
