Hi fiberman,
First of all, "being stuck with NT" is Data Return's prime advantage. There are thousands of good web hosts for the UNIX platform. But if a company wants Active Server Pages or other Microsoft technology on their website and still wants the incredible uptime usually only provided by a UNIX provider, then Data Return is really the only NT host that can give it to them. (Java and Javascript works on both NT and UNIX/Linux - it's your browser that determines if you can see it.)
Secondly, Data Return does not design websites. That is left to small companies or the company that wants their site hosted. Data Return simply buys servers, colocates them at Level 3, and fills them up with customers paying a certain amount per month to be on one of their servers. They also buy servers and lease out the whole server ("dedicated server") to certain customers who need a whole server to do their considerable website traffic justice.
Many of the most popular websites out there are hosted at Data Return. e-Card, that "internet credit card", their site is hosted at Data Return. Host Index, the definitive index of web hosts (how interesting), chose Data Return as their provider. The Wilsons, everyone's favorite guide to the Internet, is also on Data Return's servers. Tthe other experts on the Microsoft platform, such as Activeserverpages.com, and Swynk.com, chose Data Return to host their sites.
Hope this helps! |
