Mitch: I'm not preach'n doom^gloom, but realize how far FNet/FCM is behind even with the MSG1. With AT&T offering flate rate across the nation with mobile units. You can call anywhere over the weekend for free, and other upcoming support services and added value services for the top 5 telecommunication companies. Without support, the market cap for an IPO, we might generate 5 to 8 million next year, but that looks like high end.
They should melt into one, support the shareholders (I've heard others inside saying the same thing) and move on.
Look at it this way, when Franklin came out with the first news items back in 97 about the DVG, heads, phone calls, and you name it......were looking into Franklin. But I could give you a shit-load of huge mistakes this company made in their decisions at that time. One is the fact that Frank didn't want his company heading into anything on the PC side, all telelphone wire without getting into specific's. He didn't change his mind for over a year, and I know there where others inside saying just the opposite. Mike Peters in my opinion is more of a e-commerce digital strategist looking into the future and should have had his way many of times, but oh well, here we stand about 2 years behind the telephony-curve with nothing outstanding to show.
As net-appliances hit the market in large numbers next year, i.e. could be targeted towards the 2/2rds that don't yet have interest access, (most of those are households below the national income average of 37k) its the ASPs built around the ISPs with enterprise resource planning that will hit the mark. Look at what MSFT announced today......
Buy a net-appliance from Acer almost free, if you sign up with MSN. Now MSFT is also offering ASP service's in that for about 700k worth of upper memory storage, you can use the MSWord online for a fee. The e-economy is going towards the user end as applications are needed. No waste, no mess with software in the furture. Use as you need. We should have figured MSFT would be one of the first to go forward with this. As I stated 3 years ago, its always been towards the desktop, now its going to be just another link to get to the source, the ASP.
Can we see a month fee for using MSFT applications? Yes Are we seeing a monthly fee for wireless phones? Yes The winning combination are those that see SANs as a means within an ISP/ASP to provide (brokerage services) between the larger powerhouses.
