Mannesmann Falls on Rumor Vodafone to Give Up Bid FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Shares in Mannesmann AG fell nearly five percent in Wednesday afternoon trade amid rumors Vodafone AirTouch Plc (NYSE:VOD - news) might give up plans to make a fresh takeover bid for the German group. Vodafone, however, dismissed the rumor, saying all that remained to be cleared was the price at which it would bid. By 1420 GMT (9:20 a.m. EST), Mannesmann shares were 4.8 percent lower at 197.60 euros. The DAX index was down 0.9 percent.
