A Fuel Cell is not a new type of propulsion system. A fuel cell provides electrical energy for the Electric motors which provide the propulsion. Hybrid energy systems will be used before Fuel Cells. Rockwell and Toyota are currently working on Hybrids. If a fuel cell is small enough and provides enough power you can just swap the hybrid system for the fuel cell. A Hybrid HumVEE for military purposes currently exists for its stealthy quietness. MB and Ballard say 8 years for a Fuel cell for small vehicles. Ballard has been bragging about a fuel cell for autos that meet some minimum power requirement. Why are fuel cells not available for use right now? cliff
