Can I say something without ticking you off? The lady whose daughter didn't get into the pageant is living in what I call Heaven On Earth, I would bet $100. She may not see it that way, but I do. She's got a roof over her head, food on the table, her family around her, a telephone, a daughter that she loves and who loves her, etc., etc., etc. Let her bitch, it doesn't matter.
Bitching is normal.
Picking on each other is normal.
Not one of the people on SI who got their feelings tromped on by a callous SI bastard would trade one second of it to be shot at in Chechenya, nor to beg for food in Bengali, nor to be a peasant in Guatemala trying to evade the Death Squads, nor to be a feral child in Buenos Aires.
As X says, they can read and write, they've got computers, I could add that they've got money, or investments, otherwise they wouldn't be interested in SI at all, On Maslow's heirarchy of needs, they've probably got every level covered. So don't cry for them, Rambi. They are living in what I call Heaven on Earth. I probably have low standards for Heaven. |
